The floppy drive wasn't working anymore on this EMU SP1200. I suggested to instal a Lotharek SD card reader, which is a great solution these days.
The old lcd display was very weak so we decided to install a new lcd display with modern led backlight. Another advantage is that there will be no more whining noises in the EMU.
I cleaned all the sliders. They can be used in various ways. It can be pita to use them when they are dirty like this.
Next I replaced all the smaller bush buttons against new. I also cleaned the trigger pad buttons so that there is no false or double trigger when hitting the pads.
I noticed some instability in the 5V supply voltage. I replaced the regulator IC against a new one and that made it stable again. I also replaced the electrolytic capacitors againts tantal capacitors. Filtering noise out of this circuit is crucial here.
There are lethal voltage exposed in electronic devices. Unless you know what you are doing, don’t try this. If you following along, you doing so at your own risk.
