Repair Korg Polyphonic Ensemble 2000 Vintage Analog Synthesizer Reparatur Service
Korg Polyphonic Ensemble 2000 Vintage Analog Synthesizer full restoration. It's from the 1976 area. A preset based polyphonic orchestral instrument synthesizer. It was manufactured in Japan by the Keio Organ company (aka KORG). There are two versions and they are quite different from each other, but were intended to complement each other as a pair, with the "S" model being designed around sustained sounds such as strings, choir and organ, and the "P" model designed for percussive sounds such as acoustic and electric piano, and clavichord.
Customer brought it in with some distortion in the audio signal.
One more time a bad electrolytic capacitor was resonsible for the issue. One of the power supply rails to the Top Octave Generators had some noise due to bad filtering caused by a bad electrolytic capacitor. Once replace the distortion was nearly gone. Since there were a lot of these Matsushita caps in here it was time to replace them all.
This task was a bit time consuming since the keyboard section also had a lot of these Matsushita caps.
There are lethal voltage exposed in electronic devices. Unless you know what you are doing, don’t try this. If you following along, you doing so at your own risk.
