26. März 2018This RSF DD30 drumcomputer had a leaky battery, like most of the old equipment. A leaky battery can cause a bad disaster to your machine, depending on how much damage the battery made. In this case the battery was already taken out but I can show you some damage that was made by the battery substance. This resistor (and some more components) for example was eaten by the battery.

After a good cleaning I found severval traces which were totally destroyed or, in this case, interrupted in radom places, which makes troubleshooting not easier;)

Some IC sockets hat to come off for two reasons. 1. The contacts were corroded. 2. Traces underneath could be damaged.

Besides that damage the mains transformer had a transport damage, psu needed new caps, the regulators needed to be changed, cables, contacts, IC sockets, all switches and potentiometer needed a good cleaning, no contact cleaner (as usual). So all in all some kind of work. Now it´s running again. Here's my photo story like usual. Have fun;)
There are lethal voltage exposed in electronic devices. Unless you know what you are doing, don’t try this. If you following along, you doing so at your own risk.
