Repair Roland Juno 106 Synthesizer Reparatur Service

The most common problem with Roland juno-106's is one or more of the voices going dead or that keep hanging. When they fail, they typically cause either a loss of sound from the affected voice, or a crackle that usually gets worse as the synth warms up. From factory they put a protective coating over the chip, which over time can become conductive. Cold solder joints can also be the problem. However, since the voice chip is dead anyway there is a chance to bring it back to live by desoldering and removing the coating with acetone (that can take some time...), clean everything on that pcb and reflow all solder joints.

In this Roland Juno 106 three voices were bad and two came back to live. So I ordered one new voice chip from analoguerenaissance.com. Some people would change all of them, but these replica are so good that in my mind there is no audible difference.

This Juno 106 also had some missing screws which causes the pcs to fly around. I fixed that of course.

It needed a new battery

and a complete keyboard cleaning.

I replaced all tactiles

and refurbished all faders.

Since all faders were desoldered I decided to replace the crusty dust protectors (felt pads?)

I replace the pitch/bender wheel with nos, caus it was bended and cracked

Last but not least I recovered the discolored buttons using hydrogen peroxide and UV light.

And (of course) I also cleaned the potentiometers, removed the flux, cleaned the contacts, surface etc etc. Here you go, sowing you all the pics I took during restoration process, like always. Maybe it helps. Enjoy.
