Repair Hohner Rhythm 80 Analog Drumcomputer Reparatur23. Februar 2020
Here's a Siel Mono Vintage Analog Synthesizer that came in "not working". Ok, some faults are too easy to find. The wires in the mains plug were just loose...
But playing the synthesizer and looking inside showed signs of heavy corrosion. I suggested my client to do a full restoration and he agreed. Starting with the keyboard and the keyboard contacts. They were heavily corroded. Just have a look to the bus bar (the long thick solid wire, which appears black).
I started to clean the contacts...
And finally they looked like this:
I continued with fader/slider cleaning, which I did my usual way. Open, cleaning, closed, test...
One slider was broken and had to be replaced. Since there was no NOS (new old stock) available I had to build my own version out of am available silder.
Next was the switch panel. These contacts work similar to the keyboard contacts. They also looked black, heavily corroded.
After cleaning they looked nice and shiny and they work great again.
There are lethal voltage exposed in electronic devices. Unless you know what you are doing, don’t try this. If you following along, you doing so at your own risk.
I’m documenting repairs for my reference and yours.
